Des Moines, Iowa- Iowa Women for Progressive Change PAC is now accepting endorsement applications from candidates in state and local races. Candidates must apply on the PAC’s website by February 24th, 2018 to be considered.

Luana Nelson- Brown, Co-Chair of the PAC, said, “Iowa Women for Progressive Change is excited to endorse candidates that have the capacity to work toward dismantling oppressive systems in our state and do their part to build structures that support marginalized communities.”

If endorsed, the PAC will publicly support the candidate and activate a network of volunteers who can provide field and other in-kind volunteer services. Endorsement does not necessarily mean that the PAC will provide a donation. This is a separate decision made each cycle based on availability of funds and the pool of candidates who apply.

IWPC began three years ago when a group of progressive women started a Facebook group to share their thoughts and ideas about politics and policy. The group quickly grew to include a community of over 400 women. The group decided to launch the IWPC Political Action Committee (PAC) last spring to continue the momentum the group fostered.

IWPC seeks to broaden the accessibility of elected office to progressive women, particularly women who have been historically underrepresented, through the provision of early financial contributions, non-traditional support, education, and encouragement through a strong social network.

Sonia Reyes- Snyder, PAC Board Member, said, “We are looking forward to endorsing candidates for the 2018 elections that will make Iowa a more inclusive state.”

Iowa Women for Progressive Change PAC seeks to build a more equitable Iowa by shifting power to a more diverse group of leaders committed to ending the systems that uphold racism, sexism, xenophobia, transphobia, homophobia and all other forms of discrimination.
