IWPC seeks to broaden the accessibility of elected office to progressive women, particularly women who have been historically underrepresented, through the provision of early financial contributions, non-traditional support, education, and encouragement through a strong social network.

This includes women across the state running for everything from school board to governor with early funding and access to a network of supporters interested in providing volunteer and in-kind services. The goal is to not only increase the number of women running for office, but to expand the field of candidates to include women with varied backgrounds and perspectives including race, socioeconomic status, and other lived experiences.

Our vision is to eliminate the unique barriers women face in running for office because we believe that our local communities and the state of Iowa will be more just, brighter, kinder, and stronger when more women- and their unique perspectives and experiences- influence public policy and legislation.
